POST-COVID REOPENING OF CANADIAN CAMPUSES Fall Term 2021

POST-COVID REOPENING OF CANADIAN CAMPUSES Fall Term 2021, University and Colleges in Canada

WATERLOO, ON, Aug. 19, 2021 / CNW / — Does living and learning on campus vs. online this Fall in Canada create more questions than answers? Canada’s Backpacker College understands the challenge facing many post-secondary students to stay informed about the status of their campus as the country returns to the new post-pandemic normal.

Home to the world’s largest co-operative education program in Waterloo, and a Mecca for students, Backpacker’s unique discrimination-free furnished room marketplace is a higher standard helping students be prepared and lower their yearly cost of accommodation, while helping room providers earn more with better guests and no new work. Will universities be open on campus? Will universities require a vaccination passport record? What vaccines are approved?

For most, it’s been unclear whether some schools will be open for on-campus learning, hybrid or if students will endure another semester of online classes. Should students return to campus? Also, there are many questions regarding the on-campus residence buildings, if they are open, and what requirements are in place to be able to stay there.

Regarding preference to study online vs. on campus, Dr. Kevin O’Neill’s of Simon Fraser University found that students pre-COVID only preferred online courses about 30% of the time (70% students’ first choice was on campus) after failing to get the equivalent course on campus (via The Conversation).

Similarly, early Backpacker College research shows “One of the most important things about going to university is the going part” says Rob Evans, President. Anyone whose been studying elsewhere for the recent 2 years, will appreciate what this fact.

Today, the Good News is almost all universities and colleges in Canada with residences are finally opening their doors. But what are rules for residents and students? Backpacker College supports students’ accommodation needs and the rebuilding of student communities, after many months of isolation. Here within, readers will find a compilation showing the status of Canada’s top 50 campuses and their residences right now, with links to the schools for more information.

The top 50 Post-Secondary Institutions in Canada resource list below shows what the rules are and what restrictions are in place for on campus this fall.
